# Pulsar (pulsarml.com) alternatives, compared from each vendor’s own pages

Seven options for plants weighing Pulsar, starting with who builds the hardware. Every rating rests on the company’s own published facts.

[Score them yourself](https://www.iotflows.com/compare/pulsar-alternatives#scorecard)

Filters drawn from each company’s ratings below, from its own published facts.

The short answer

## Which alternative fits your plant? Start with what the hardware can see.

- 01

### Want hardware built for the job?

IoTFlows designs its sensors, firmware and all. Evocon and Vorne name themselves maker of their devices.[30],[37] Pulsar’s photos show a relay marked SSR-40 DA and a Teltonika router.[4],[8]

Best fit
- 02

### Need part counts on every machine?

SenseAi counts parts from the same sensor that reports running and stopped. Pulsar’s docs: totals need a count sensor mapped on the machine, on OEE Pro.[3]

Best fit
- 03

### Want maintenance and spare parts in one system?

The only one of the eight whose own pages list work orders and spare-parts inventory. Pulsar’s blog puts the CMMS in a separate system.[7]

Best fit
- 04

### Want a price before the demo?

All four publish prices on their own sites.[24],[31],[49] Pulsar has no pricing page; every call to action books a demo.[1]

Best fit
- 05

### Need a schedule for the floor?

Both sell drag-and-drop scheduling with automatic sequencing as an add-on.[17] Pulsar’s docs cover shift schedules: when each machine runs.[6]

Best fit
- 06

### Want controller data later?

MachineMetrics reads CNC controls natively.[15] IoTFlows adds MTConnect, OPC UA and more on Enterprise, through its edge device, beside the sensor.

Own hardware

## Built, not bought

We design SenseAi, SenseAi Embedded and BeamTracker ourselves: the electronics, the housing and every line of firmware, so we know exactly what each device can do. It decides when a machine runs, filters short pauses at the machine, and gets better with every signed update.

A kit assembled from other makers’ boxes runs firmware from several companies. Every box is one more thing to set up, update and fail, and no one owns the whole chain.

Pulsar

Its Smart Hub runs “proprietary technology and AI algorithms”. Its hardware page shows a relay marked SSR-40 DA with a Pulsar label, and its docs show the router under Teltonika’s own label.[4],[8]

[See SenseAi](https://www.iotflows.com/products/senseai)

Install

## A magnet, not an electrician

A current sensor has to go around a single phase. Most machines take their power through one cable that carries all three, and around that cable the currents cancel out. So the sensor goes where the phases run separately, at the machine’s breaker in the electrical panel. In most plants, that is a job for an electrician, and so is putting it back when a machine moves.

SenseAi is plug and play. It ships configured to its machine: mount it with a magnet and it calibrates in under five minutes. **No electrician, no installer’s visit, no installation fee.**

Pulsar

Its docs put the sensor on “the electrical cable of the breaker that corresponds to the monitored machine.” Its own team installs the hardware “in a single visit”, and its site gives no price for it.[4],[5]

Why plants look

## Why plants look past Pulsar in its own words.

- **Hardware from the shelf.** Its hardware page shows a relay marked SSR-40 DA with a Pulsar label, and its docs show the router under Teltonika’s own label.[4],[8]
- **Into the breaker panel.** Its current sensor goes on the electrical cable of the machine’s breaker, and when a machine or its breaker moves out of reach, Pulsar ships new hardware.[5]
- **A visit to install.** Its own team installs the hardware in a single visit, and its site gives no price for the installation.[1],[4]
- **Part counts on one plan.** Status on every machine comes from an amps sensor; totals need a count sensor mapped on the machine, on OEE Pro.[3]
- **Defects by hand.** Defects are entered with a quantity and an SKU, on accounts with the production module.[10]
- **Maintenance elsewhere.** Its own blog puts work orders, preventive plans and spare parts in a CMMS, a separate system.[7]
- **No price on its site.** There is no pricing page; every call to action books a demo.[1]

**When to stay:** plants in Mexico and Latin America that want a vendor with offices in Monterrey and Mexico City, alerts on WhatsApp, and its own team installing in one visit.[3],[4],[9]

How to pilot

## Test an alternative on the machines you already run.

- **The same machines, the same shifts.** Pick a cell that mixes old and new machines, and include the one everybody argues about.
- **Two weeks of both numbers.** Compare uptime and part counts side by side, shift by shift.
- **Check the reasons on the floor.** Walk the top three downtime reasons with the operators who logged them.
- **Count the work around it.** Note what still needs a spreadsheet, a second login or an IT ticket.

An IoTFlows pilot runs on 10 to 25 machines for four weeks, with no commitment to buy.

Customer story

## Datwyler cut shift-changeover downtime in half

Datwyler molds precision components on more than 20 injection molding machines in California. Every stop now carries a reason, and the weekly and monthly reports show which ones to fix next.

50%

less shift-changeover downtime

30%

less material-changeover downtime

20%

higher efficiency across 20+ machines

### Challenge

Supervisors could see that machines were down, but not why. With no reasons on the stops, every fix was a guess, and nobody could tell whether it had worked.

### Solution

SenseAi on every molding machine, with short stops and the start and end of each shift classified automatically. Operators and supervisors put a reason on the rest, and the team reviews the Downtimes report week over week and month over month.

## Questions people ask

### Which Pulsar is this page about?

Pulsar Global Corp, at pulsarml.com: a machine-monitoring and OEE platform that installs sensors, a Smart Hub and a router on the plant floor, with offices in California, Florida, Monterrey and Mexico City. Other companies use the Pulsar name; none of them is compared here.

### What are the best Pulsar alternatives?

It depends on what your plant needs beyond machine state. IoTFlows designs its own sensors, reads any machine with a magnetic sensor and adds maintenance work orders, spare-parts inventory and a production scheduler, with published prices (Pro is $119 per machine a month billed monthly). MachineMetrics reads CNC controls; Evocon publishes per-machine OEE pricing; Vorne XL sells one line’s monitor outright; Amper, now part of ECI, uses electrical sensors over cellular; Guidewheel and FourJaw clip current sensors onto the power cables.

### Does Pulsar build its own hardware?

Pulsar describes its Smart Hub as processing data with proprietary technology and AI algorithms. The photos on its own hardware page show a relay marked SSR-40 DA with a Pulsar label, and its docs show the router as a Teltonika RUT200 under Teltonika’s own label. IoTFlows designs SenseAi, SenseAi Embedded and BeamTracker itself, the electronics, housing and firmware, with signed updates over the air.

### Why does it matter who builds the hardware?

When the same team designs the sensor and the software, the device itself can decide when a machine runs, filter short pauses at the machine and keep deciding when the network drops, and every signed firmware update improves the devices already installed. A platform assembled from parts bought from others depends on what those parts report.

### Does installing Pulsar mean opening the electrical panel?

Its docs put the current sensor on “the electrical cable of the breaker that corresponds to the monitored machine”, and if a machine or its breaker moves out of reach, Pulsar ships new hardware. Pulsar’s own team does the install, in one visit by its own pages, and its site gives no price for it. In most plants, work at the breakers is a job for an electrician. A SenseAi ships configured to its machine, mounts on the outside with a magnet and calibrates in under five minutes: no panel, no electrician, no installer’s visit and no installation fee.

### Can Pulsar count parts?

Its docs say machine status comes from an amps sensor on every product type, while totals need a count sensor mapped on the machine, on the OEE Pro plan, and defects are entered by hand with a quantity and an SKU. SenseAi counts parts from the same sensor that reports running and stopped.

### Does Pulsar include maintenance work orders?

Its pages show none, and its own blog describes the CMMS, with work orders, preventive plans and spare parts, as a separate system. IoTFlows includes Maintain and Inventory: a downtime, an event, a meter or a request opens a work order, and the parts leave stock when it closes.

### What does Pulsar cost?

Pulsar publishes no price: there is no pricing page, and every call to action books a demo. Its docs show the plan is set per machine, OEE Pro or OEE Lite. IoTFlows is $149 per SenseAi, once, with no installation fee, plus a subscription per machine: Pro is $119 a month billed monthly, less on annual and three-year terms.

### How long does switching from Pulsar take?

A SenseAi attaches magnetically in seconds and calibrates in under five minutes, and it needs no connection to the control, or to the plant network on the 4G/LTE router, so IoTFlows can run beside an existing system during a pilot: 10 to 25 machines for four weeks, with no commitment to buy.

### How are the scores calculated?

Each company is rated from 0 to 10 on ten criteria (cost, time to first data, machine versatility, controller data, setup and IT effort, scheduling, maintenance work orders, spare-parts inventory, own hardware and published pricing) on one written rubric, using only facts from its own website, docs and price pages. Your weights decide how much each rating counts: the score is the weighted average of the ratings, times ten. The rubric and the fact behind every rating are on the page, with sources.
